In 1991 I moved to Charlotte and joined a group of ragtag Artists known as 'The Friends of Van Gogh'. Following the lead of a few other enterprising Artists, our group opened two galleries in an old, run down, textile mill district, located just 2 miles outside of uptown Charlotte. Through a series of clever promotions, in an effort to gain attention for our art and galleries, 'The Friends of Van Gogh' were able to bring the crowds from the monthly, mosty uptown 'gallery crawls' to North Davidson Street. Through our efforts, and those of the owners of the original two galleries, 'Center of the Earth' and 'Rococo Fish', the Art District that came to be known as 'NoDa', was formed. On this page are many of the paintings I have done over the years that celebrate the spirit of NoDa and pay tribute to the places and artistic pioneers that are part of it's history.
